Ray "Tank" Fisher was the founding President of the VFW Riders Group at Post 9656. He worked diligently for over a year to get approved. When Tank took over as the Post Quartermaster, he was forced to become the Rider's Treasurer due to National Bylaws of the VFW. Now that he is no longer President, he can be found volunteering at charity rides to be a blocker almost every time.
Ray Fisher joined the VFW in
March of 2022 after medically retiring from the U.S. Navy after 16 years. Ray served as a Machinist Mate, Damage Controlman, Hull Technician and lastly, the Navy made him a Fire Controlman and he was responsible for
launching Tomahawk missiles when ordered. In addition, Ray was the Command Financial Specialist, stood watch as
the Anti-Terrorism Tactical Watch Officer and was also an Anti-Terrorism
Training Supervisor. If you don't get the jargon, you may have picked the wrong branch :) GO NAVY!! Ray also has a Bachelor
of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo. He has been his Post’s Quartermaster since
June of 2023 and was just unanimously re-elected. In addition to this, he has been the back up
Adjutant until recently, when we was appointed to the position by Commander Roy
Hamilton. Ray also was appointed to be
the District 6 Adjutant by the District Commander, Clint Ward.
Outside of the VFW, Ray enjoys
spending time with his two boys and little girl (who always wants to go to the VFW). Ray spends his summer with the kids on the
ATV’s, dirt bikes or riding the kids around on his Harley. When he gets "me time”, he goes for a ride on
his Harley or can be found volunteering his time at the Post. The family enjoys
their dogs, two European Rottweilers and two rescues, one of which is Ray’s
Service Dog.
